Islam projected to overtake Christianity by 2070

Believe this or not, Islam is the fastest-growing religion in the world, if a recent BBC report is anything to go by.

The Pew Research Center has published a research supporting the theory that, if the current trend continue, Islam will overtake Christianity by 2070, becoming the largest religion in the world.

Highly populated Muslim countries account for much of the religion’s expected growth. Indonesia reportedly had the largest Muslim population in the world as of 2010, with 205 million Muslims.

India is expected to overtake Indonesia by having the largest Muslim population in the world by 2050, with the number reaching 311 million Muslims.

The Pew Research Center estimates that the Christian population in the United Kingdom and France will decline to below 50 percent and, by 2050, 10 percent of the population in Europe are expected to be Muslim.

Less people are expected to be Muslim in the United States by 2050, with a prediction of 1 in 50 adhering to Islam.
