Amazing story of baby’s survival in London fire (VIDEO)

LONDON- The massive fire at Grenfell Tower in north Kensington has left at least twelve people dead. But one amazing story of survival is going viral on social media.

The fire ravaged the 24-story building, causing massive damage, and police expect to find more deceased within as the search efforts continue. Eyewitnesses describe people being trapped in the burning tower, screaming for help.

During the chaos, one baby was saved when a woman tossed it out of a window into the arms of a stranger below. The child fell at least nine floors before being caught.
Witness Samira Lamrani recalled the scene as a bystander “miraculously” caught the baby in an interview with NBC News:

“A woman appeared at the window gesturing and trying to get somebody’s attention. She had the baby in hand — she was gesturing like she was going to throw the baby out. She wrapped the child up in some sort of thick blanket, and then just dropped the baby out of the window.”

“The baby just sort of dropped in a straight line, and a guy just ran forward and the baby fell into his arms.”

Another witness, Tamara, told the BBC she saw people throwing their children to safety. “There’s people, like, throwing their kids out: ‘Just save my children, just save my children!’,” she said. “There’s people at their windows: ‘Help me, help me, help me!’ You can see the fire go into the house and into the last room that they’re in, and just engulfing their whole apartment.”

It’s unclear if the two women are describing the same incident. According to Reuters, the witnesses accounts have not been verified.
