Scalise Shooter Identified as Bernie Sanders Campaigner

The man responsible for this morning’s shooting attack on a GOP congressional baseball practice has reportedly been identified as James T. Hodgkinson from Belleville Illinois.

According to The Washington Post, Hodgkinson, 66, owns a home inspection business and has charges dating back to April 2006 of battery and aiding damage to a motor vehicle. Those charges were dismissed.

Following the identification of Hodgkinson, social media users have tracked down a Facebook profile owned by someone who shares that same name and is listed as a “former owner at JTH Inspections.”

The owner of the Facebook page is listed as living in Belleville, Illinois.

His profile shows his political affiliation loud and clear.

According to Heavy, Hodgkinson’s profile also contains a post in which he states, “Trump is a traitor. Trump has destroyed our democracy. It’s time to destroy Trump & Co.”

Attached to that post is a Change.org petition calling for the U.S. Senate to remove President Trump and Vice President Mike Pence, “et al.”

According to The Washington Post, Hodgkinson campaigned for Bernie Sanders in Iowa during the last Presidential election.

A man who met Hodgkinson on the campaign trail was reportedly shocked to learn he is behind today’s shooting.

“You’ve got to be kidding me,” Charles Orear reportedly told The Washington Post. “I met him on the Bernie trail in Iowa, worked with him in the Quad Cities area.”

Orear reportedly described Hodgkinson as a “quiet guy” who stayed with him at a fellow Bernie Sanders supporter’s home in Illinois.

“He was this union salesman, pretty stocky, and we stayed up talking politics. He was more on the really progressive side of things.”
James T. Hodgkinson is accused of opening fire on Republicans at a baseball practice in Virginia with a rifle.

Representative Mel Brooks, who was at the practice, told CNN Hodgkinson was near third base when he began firing. By the end of the 10-15 minute incident, he is reported to have set loose as possibly hundreds of rounds.

Many are already making the connection between today’s shooting and the hostile attitude that has been directed towards Republicans recently.

Republican Representative Sean Duffy spoke with Fox News this morning and had words to that effect.
