The Journalist Who Cheated Death

An Australian journalist was struck by a stray bullet that got lodged in his neck – and shared the jaw-dropping X-ray on social media, to show just how fortunate he is to be alive.

Adam Harvey, ABC’s Indonesia correspondent, tweeted that he was “lucky” along with the picture showing the bullet caught just centimeters away from his jaw after being shot Thursday in the ISIS-occupied city of Marawi in the Philippines.

In another post, Harvey, holding an IV bag and sporting a bandage on the left side of his face, gives the thumbs up.

“Thanks everyone – I’m okay. Bullet is still in my neck, but it missed everything important,” he wrote.

Harvey was struck by the stray bullet while reporting on the ongoing battle between ISIS and government forces after the jihadist group took over Marawi three weeks ago, the Guardian reported.
